The Solomon Islands are comprised of over 900 mainly uninhabited islands, which
few tourists or travelers have ever ventured to visit. This is the only
destination in the Pacific that has not been widely opened for tourism, so
development is at a minimum.
While primarily populated by native Melanesians, there are also large
numbers of Polynesian and Micronesian races who are also citizens. This gives
visitors a thoroughly Pacific experience as all of the various cultures from the
different races remain intact.
There are over 75 native languages in use
in the Solomons, but people of all islands communicate in Pidgin (a slang form
of English which is quite easy to pick up) and in English. For more
information on Solomon Islands, visit the Solomon
Islands Visitors Bureau website.
